NI entrepreneurs use networking events to share ideas and knowledge, source finance and launch products to a wider market
NITechBlog, a blog aimed at the technology community in Northern Ireland, reports on a recent meeting of the Belfast Chapter of the MobileMonday business networking community. At the event mobile applications developed by five innovative local businesses were showcased successfully. The event took place in the Black Box, Belfast on 23rd November 2009 and was attended by over 60 representatives from businesses operating in the mobile technology and digital content industries.
James Scott from NITechBlog said: “Open business networking events such as MobileMonday offer an excellent opportunity to foster co-operation among the local technology community and enable entrepreneurs to demonstrate new products to a wider audience.”
Networking helps all businesses
Successful networking has many advantages for all businesses. It can help you raise your profile, meet new customers and suppliers, share ideas and knowledge and source finance. This can be particularly important for start-up businesses that do not have an established network of contacts, or businesses that are entering new markets.
In addition to MobileMonday there are many other business networks available in Northern Ireland including:
OpenCoffee - an informal event for people with an interest in technology, the internet, business and start-ups. Regular meetings happen in Belfast, Coleraine, Londonderry, Newry, Lisburn and Mid-Ulster.
BNI Northern Ireland - business people meet one morning every week business networking, to exchange new business referrals and opportunities, and benefit from working with a group of forward-thinking entrepreneurs.
Best Practice Clubs - provide networking opportunities with other businesses and Invest NI representatives. Best Practice Clubs are primarily aimed at SME's and are open to Invest NI clients and the wider business community.
